Barry Mitchell made quite a name for himself as a goalkeeper. Entering WCS in 1961 he not only played for the school first team but was spotted and played for Hendon, then a senior side the equivalent of 6th tier today, at the tender age of 14.
The youngest to ever play at that level. He later had trials for Fulham. However he stayed loyal to OWCFC, playing in our first team and being honoured to play for the SAL and FA representative sides. Barry lives in Brisbane and hadn’t visited UK since Covid. Over with his wife Corrine for a family wedding in France in October he made it to London for a reunion with a dozen or so other 1960s ‘lads’ and OWCFC legends at his old haunt, the White Horse pub in Parsons Green.
